University Tea & Summer Drinks

More than 80 recent alumnae returned to meet former classmates, teachers and current students.

Inspired by a suggestion from Aadya on the Head Girl Team, we welcomed dozens of former pupils from the past five years to meet with our Lower Sixth students – a wonderful opportunity for our current A Level students to find out more about university life and study.

We were thrilled to welcome back so many recent alumnae, with representatives from more than 25 universities and colleges attending, including those now studying in the USA, Canada and Europe. Sixth Formers were able to find out first hand about their experiences in higher education before they finalise their UCAS applications in the autumn.

This year, the event was particularly poignant as all the guests were pupils during Mrs Bingham’s era as Headmistress. Former Head Girl, Katie Tan-Khoo, spoke on behalf of the alumnae community to acknowledge and thank Mrs Bingham for everything she has done for the school and to welcome her into the community as an Honorary Alumna.

“Mrs Bingham brought with her a real sense of stability and purpose when she joined South Hampstead. It was as if she steadied the ship before pulling in the sails and setting us off on a very fast and furious tack!  We wish her success… but hope that, in her heart, she will always be a South Hampstead girl.”

The next summer drinks will be for the Class of 2018 through to the Class of 2023; we look forward to welcoming back this year’s Upper Sixth to hear about their university experiences next year.
