Winter Sport
The second half of term concludes another strong season across our key winter sports.
Highlights have included great performances at the U11 and U13 GDST netball rally; second place in the Islington football tournament for our U16s; excellent running at the ESAA cross country cup regional final; and our U14 netballers qualifying for the quarter finals of the Sisters n Sport plate. Indoors, our dancers enjoyed a GDST workshop at the Pineapple Dance Studios, with commercial, contemporary, lyrical jazz and musical theatre sessions led by top choreographers. Meanwhile, at our sister GDST school, Streatham & Clapham, our gymnastics squad showed tremendous strength and agility in the team floor and vault at the Milano Gymnastics competition, performing creative trio routines. Over the past 6 weeks, despite the weather, more than 300 pupils have had the opportunity to play in competitive fixtures.
Before, during and after school sports clubs, as part of our Mehr Licht co-curricular programme, provide further scope to develop fitness and skills. Alongside sessions in our key winter sports, girls have been training in tennis, hockey, cricket and at running club as well as taking part in yoga, cheerleading, pickleball, dodgeball, volleyball and, a new addition this term, tag rugby, as we continue to promote an ethos of sports for all and sport for life.
