Winter Sports
Our athletes have had an action-packed autumn term, with plenty of sporting triumphs.
In our core winter sports, our U13 and U19 trio gymnasts delivered outstanding performances in their floor, vault and group routines at the Milano Gymnastics competition, whilst our top dancers had a fantastic experience at the BASE Studio, joining workshops with some of the world’s top choreographers as part of the annual GDST Day of Dance. Our three netball squads – a record for South Hampstead – who qualified for the county finals of the Middlesex Schools Competition narrowly missed out on the finals and potential qualification for the nationals; well done to our U14, U16 and U18 teams who all secured third place in a competitive tournament. And congratulations to our Cross-Country athletes who took part in the London Youth Games on Parliament Hill, with a special mention to Chloe in Year 7, one of our Going for Gold athletes, who placed second among the Camden U13 runners. Football continues to gather momentum, with after-school clubs thriving and squads winning over 65% of their fixtures this term. Pupils and staff have enjoyed World Cup screenings in Waterlow Hall and we are excited to see such talent emerging talent amid our younger pupils – our U11 team were recently crowned GDST champions.
Pupils have also excelled in our non-key winter sports. Our first hockey fixtures in years have resulted in convincing victories, with clinical performances and excellent team goals; congratulations to Bella in Year 7 who has recently been selected for the U13 London Hockey Squad. And well done to our swim squad who placed first at the City of London School for Girls’ gala, with a special mention to Marina in Year 8 who has been selected for the Swim England London Development Programme.
Parents can now check fixtures, view team sheets and track team performances on our new sports website.
