Winter Sports

Our athletes have started the academic year with plenty of sporting action and numerous impressive triumphs.

Cross Country has kicked off, with lots of new pupils joining our weekly lunchtime running club on Primrose Hill, and our Inter and Senior Cross Country teams finishing top at the first round of the ESAA cup, qualifying for the regional final in November.

Our footballers have had an incredible start to the season too. At the GDST rally at Northampton High School, our U15 team were crowned this year’s national GDST champions – unbeaten, zero goals conceded and a dramatic penalty shoot-out finale – watch it here! This was our first Senior School victory at a GDST sports rally and follows our Junior School U11 football squad’s success last year.

Netballers of all ages have had a busy schedule of fixtures, securing plenty of wins against strong competition. Our U14A netball team performed brilliantly at the Middlesex prelims, earning a spot in the County Finals in March, and also won third place at the recent GDST rally, scoring 100 goals and losing only one game all day.

In cricketing news, Year 10 Sports Scholar, Dia, was named Middlesex Youth Women Cricket Player of the Year at an awards ceremony at Lord’s. Dia also been selected to participate in Middlesex’s professional cricket pathway programme, Sunrisers, and serve on the Board of Middlesex Cricket: the first under 18 to be appointed in the board’s history – a remarkable achievement at the age of just 14.

Meanwhile, our ski squad have delivered some superb performances, including teams placing 1st, 2nd and 5th at the British Schoolgirls’ Indoor Races in Milton Keynes; winning the National Schools’ Indoor Open Ski Competition at Hemel (in both the Junior and Senior categories); and the U14 team finishing 1st at the ESSKIA finals – our team not only came first, but had the four fastest skiers! Along with our U18 team and Open teams, they qualify for the British Finals in Scotland next month.

As a reminder, parents can check fixtures, view team sheets and track team performances on our sports website.
